I am currently in school for Business Management. I would work for Barnes Jewish or St. John's Mercy if I stayed in St Louis after I graduated but I am leaving.

centene corp. is building a huge building in St. Louis...try them.

There are a lot of good companies that are not in high crime areas. Boeing, Anheuser Bush, Ralston Purina, Mastercard etc. We have major banks, accounting firms, hospitals etc Check out the St.Louis Business Journal for openings. Go to company web sites to look for employent opportunities or post your resume on Career Builder or Monster.

If you have a business degree, then the other people you will be working with will have a degree also. So I don't think you will be working with poor people. You have many options for a job in the St. Louis area with a business degree. Here is an easy way to find out about jobs and if you qualify http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/ Just type in St. Louis and then you can pick what field you would like to work in. This will give you plenty of options. Personally I didn't ever like filling out on-line applications. I think the best way to get the job you want is to go to the facility and ask for an application. Let them see YOU not just your resume. Good luck!!~~~~~~~~~~`

About Which is better to work for, St Louis Metro PD or St Louis County PD

Which is better to work for, St Louis Metro PD or St Louis County PD?
The wife and I are looking at moving to the area, and just curious about the difference in the departments. Is there really a difference? Which is better to work for as far as who gets treated better, etc.

I am not a policeman but I think the County would be better. The City used to require that their officers live in the City. Because of the schools this is a problem for officers with children. Secondly, many people do not like living in the city. There county offers all types of living areas from the high end to the lower end. It also provides other opportunities for work for your spouse. Finally and perhaps more importantly, the City police department has been hit by several scandals over the last few years. The treatment etc I cannot answer. The City police department is a good department but is in transition.

My father is and has been a police officer in St. Louis County since 1996...The county is the better department. They are paid slightly more. They are more organized and respected. The city department requires you to live in the city. And if you have kids that go to public school, they will most likely be going to some of the crappiest schools in the state. The county does not require you to live in the county, but if you to be able to take your police car home then you have to live in the county. More room for advancement in the county as well. The county if harder to get into. If you can walk, talk, hell....even breath, you can get a job with the city.
