About Where's a good place to work in the St. Louis area for someone with a business degree

Where's a good place to work in the St. Louis area for someone with a business degree?
I won't want to work with poor people or in the high crime areas.

I am currently in school for Business Management. I would work for Barnes Jewish or St. John's Mercy if I stayed in St Louis after I graduated but I am leaving.
2 :
centene corp. is building a huge building in St. Louis...try them.
3 :
There are a lot of good companies that are not in high crime areas. Boeing, Anheuser Bush, Ralston Purina, Mastercard etc. We have major banks, accounting firms, hospitals etc Check out the St.Louis Business Journal for openings. Go to company web sites to look for employent opportunities or post your resume on Career Builder or Monster.
4 :
If you have a business degree, then the other people you will be working with will have a degree also. So I don't think you will be working with poor people. You have many options for a job in the St. Louis area with a business degree. Here is an easy way to find out about jobs and if you qualify http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/ Just type in St. Louis and then you can pick what field you would like to work in. This will give you plenty of options. Personally I didn't ever like filling out on-line applications. I think the best way to get the job you want is to go to the facility and ask for an application. Let them see YOU not just your resume. Good luck!!~~~~~~~~~~`

About Which is better to work for, St Louis Metro PD or St Louis County PD

Which is better to work for, St Louis Metro PD or St Louis County PD?
The wife and I are looking at moving to the area, and just curious about the difference in the departments. Is there really a difference? Which is better to work for as far as who gets treated better, etc.

I am not a policeman but I think the County would be better. The City used to require that their officers live in the City. Because of the schools this is a problem for officers with children. Secondly, many people do not like living in the city. There county offers all types of living areas from the high end to the lower end. It also provides other opportunities for work for your spouse. Finally and perhaps more importantly, the City police department has been hit by several scandals over the last few years. The treatment etc I cannot answer. The City police department is a good department but is in transition.
2 :
My father is and has been a police officer in St. Louis County since 1996...The county is the better department. They are paid slightly more. They are more organized and respected. The city department requires you to live in the city. And if you have kids that go to public school, they will most likely be going to some of the crappiest schools in the state. The county does not require you to live in the county, but if you to be able to take your police car home then you have to live in the county. More room for advancement in the county as well. The county if harder to get into. If you can walk, talk, hell....even breath, you can get a job with the city.

Can a non-US citizen with a green card work in St. Maarten?
My buddy has a construction job in St. Maarten and isn't sure if his employees can work there with their green cards. Can they?

Anyone can work in St Maarten providing they have their work permit and it does not matter if they have a green card or not. If you have any queries you can contact the immigration department.
2 :
If you're talking about a US green card, I'm not sure why you or your friend think that would mean anything in Sint Maarten, which is currently part of a country named the Netherlands Antilles and next year (?) will become an independent-kind-of country in the Dutch Kingdom.
3 :
St Maarten is a Dutch territory. Your green card has nothing to so with it. You will need to apply for a work visa ..actually, the employer applies for you. This must be done through the embassy of the Netherlands...see site below.

It depends on what you did add what you did than I'll answer
2 :
Fill out an application and be open and up front about the past. You don't have to volunteer any information, but if a question is asked, answer it honestly. If you know for sure that the job requires a background check, be honest on the questionnaire. You may not get the job, but if the background investigation reveals something that you didn't divulge, it may be assumed your trying to hide something and you won't get the job.

About How do I get my old film version Pentax Lenses to work on my *st DS Digital SLR

How do I get my old film version Pentax Lenses to work on my *st DS Digital SLR?
Really I only want to be able to use my SMC Pentax-M 1.7 50mm However it doesn't seem to recognize the lens when I switch on my camera. It won't allow me to take shots with it. I've read articles from people who say they use them so can anyone let me in on the trick/s to get it to work?
Photography - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
If Pentax lenses are like most other auto-focus, linked lenses, it will have to have an IC chip installed as well as some contacts. I know that some lens repair shops provide this service for some Nikon lenses, however you will have to call around and see if such a service is available for Pentax lenses. Or you can call the Pentax help line.
2 :
I can sympathise with you: my first lens was an SMC Takumar 55 mm f1.8 lens on my Pentax Spotmatic II, and it was the best lens I ever had. Trouble was it was screw-mount, just before the bayonet mounts were developed. I doubt very much whether your lens would be automatically recognised by the new-fangled digital cameras: but there may well be an adapter of some kind you can use. SMC Takumar lenses still have a surprisingly large following; just browse them on Google and you will find a bunch of enthusiasts exchanging tips. (BTW, I recently discovered that Takumar lenses were initially jointly developed by a Japanese company and the German iconic lens company, Zeiss.)
3 :
If it is a K mount lens, it will go on, but you have to shoot it with the camera in Manual. It will not do any of the auto focus, shutter speed and aperture stuff. If it is a screw mount Takumar, you will need an adaptor from screw mount to K mount and then all of the above is still true.

When my daughter was 15, she worked for a family owned childcare center. When she was 16, she got a job at the mall in a shoe store.
2 :
A place to start is your local paper for something along the lines of stocking or maybe fast food, or babysitting. Some sites I recently found have the potential to earn money , and you can do it whenever you have free time, read a review of some "Get Paid To" sites that I did. There is no cost to you, upfront, or ever. Within hours of joining, no credit card or any cost, just your name and email, and you'll be earning money. I sure did and do. You can see a picture of a check at the review at http://www.thegetpaid2review.com You won't make enough for to retire, but some extra money each month isn''t bad for some of your 'spare' time, you set the schedule. My review is at http://www.thegetpaid2review.com

Here's a short list of jobs which you can create to generate income: 1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item. 2. Become a "poser" who assists wedding photographers in setting and arranging various individuals in group and single photographic positions. "Posers" carry around a sketch book of various sitting and standing poses which consists of onion skin overlays of various wedding pictures bound in albums. Again, contact local wedding photographers and wedding planners, accordingly. The hourly pay is around $10-$12 per hour and you are often invited to attend all dining activities. 3. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour. 4. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour. 5. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel. 6. Become a proxy/stand-in for neighbors to allow delivery of goods and packages to your home/apartment. Acquire the authority to sign any receipt of incoming packages as an accepting neighbor. Charge $1 per each package handled by you. 7. Consider becoming a restaurant-cafe customer liaison by using your cell phone at restaurants-cafes to coordinate with the hostess to keep track of waiting customers. Whenever there's a very long period of time to activate a waiting list, you want to offer the restaurant your services so that customers do not have to stand around for any lengthy period of time. And when their name/assigned number comes up; you can call the upcoming customer's cell phone to tell them that they can return to the restaurant and be served. The call back fee is usually around $0.50 cents on a per head basis. For example, a couple would be charged $1.00 while children under 6 would not be charged. Placement of a plaque which outlines your fee schedule near the hostess station is sufficient to garner attention of prospective customers who will value your services since they can do other activities outside of the restaurant -- often beyond the range of any inhouse paging system. You realize that everyone has a cellphone and why not take advantage of the connectivity to make the diner's experience worthwhile. The restaurant will also appreciate the added service you are providing as a customer liaison. 8. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at nearby nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are unable to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The only downside is that one has to take precautions to wash one's hands after each feeding. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The paid feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time. Good luck!

You don't say what you like to do or where your experience is but you can bartend at any of the places on Euclid, become a barista at a coffee shop, give Segway tours for the Science Center, sell at an upscale boutique on Washington Ave or get a job as one of the "beautiful people" a the new Lumiere casino downtown on the landing.
2 :
One of the casinos might be fun to work out. There's some eccentric smaller stores in the city as well.
3 :
I don't know what your past 10 jobs have been but casinos, clubs, bars, maybe a certain store in the mall, etc... could be the job you are looking for. In St. Maarten/St. Martin they are currently tightening up work visa requirements due to the extremely high unemployment rate amongst legal residents. There are certainly plenty of people that go there and end up staying/working, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to find employers who will pay you "under the table" due to the heavy fines being imposed on businesses that employ undocumented workers. Basically, what they are requiring is for businesses to "hire local" unless they can prove the person they are bringing from outside the island is a "skilled" worker providing a service that cannot be procured locally, or that the person they are employing is training locals to do a job not currently able to be filled locally. Most jobs on the island are service-oriented and therefore it is difficult to prove to the local goverment it was NECESSARY to bring in a bartender/server/cook from off-island.

I don't know about adding 30 stitches, but "in next st work [P1,K1] 3 times" is the same as saying, "in next st work [P1,K1,P1,K1,P1,K1]. In other words, all 6 new stitches are worked in a single existing stitch. But this is only going to give you an increase of 5 stitches (going from 1 to 6), not 30. Good luck!

It means you work the instructions in the brackets 3 times in the same stitch. Here is how. With the yarn at the front purl the first stitch but do not slip the stitch off the LH needle. Take the yarn under the RH needle and knit into the same stitch but again do not slip the stitch off the needle. Bring the yarn under the RH needle to the front. You have now worked p1,k1 into the same stitch. Repeat into the same stitch 2 more times. After the last k1 slip the stitch off the LH needle. You now have 6 stitches made out of 1 stitch.i.e. an extra 5 stitches. To get an extra 30 stitches I presume this instruction occurs 6 times in the row.

If you're under 16 in Virginia you will need to apply for a work permit. After you receive the permit you can work anywhere that doesn't serve alcohol. You have to be 18 to work at an establishment that serves drinks.

Good luck!
